Using the multi-hole interface pad also produces a more consistent and even result. The multi-hole interface pad is placed between the backing pad and the sanding disc.
The Mirka Abranet 5 multi-hole grip-faced interface pad sits between the backing pad and the sanding disc, cushioning contact on rounded surfaces and contours so the disc sands more evenly than it would against a rigid pad alone.
Rounded surfaces and contours benefit most, since the cushioning lets the disc follow the shape more closely than a flat, rigid pad would.
No, the multi-hole design lines up with the holes in the backing pad and sanding disc, so dust extraction still passes through to the sander.
